Accused Greenbrae Carjacker Boyce a No-Show in Court

The trial for accused carjacker and murder suspect Jeffrey Boyce hit another false start on Friday, when Boyce did not show up for his arraignment.

Boyce was not transported from Marin County Jail to the courtroom for his scheduled arraignment, according to Boyce's attorney Brian Morris. There was no reason given for the no-show. The change came so late that Boyce's case was still on the court's agenda at the scheduled start time.

Boyce was originally scheduled to be arraigned two weeks ago, but Morris asked for a delay, which was granted.

Boyce is facing seven felony counts, including carjacking, kidnapping, attempted carjacking, false imprisonment, attempted burglary and weapons charges, after a manhunt from Sonoma County to Greenbrae on April 29.

Boyce became the subject of a pursuit when he allegedly carjacked a man in Rohnert Park and drove off in a BMW. Boyce was reported to be heavily armed and possibly mentally ill.

The Central Marin Police Authority received a call reporting an attempted carjacking at 6:51 p.m., where a suspect pointed a rifle at a woman's head. He ran away, and police found him nearby. The woman was identified as Tina Humphrey of Mill Valley.

San Francisco Police suspected Boyce was heading toward the Russian consulate to seek asylum, according to a KPIX report. Police who interviewed his mother indicated Boyce seemed to sympathize with the accused Boston bombers.

Boyce has also been identified by Orgeon State Police as a suspect in homicide that happened there Sunday. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 57-year-old Kirsten Elaine Englund of Castro Valley. The cause and manner of her death were not released. Englund's body was found near Winchester Bay Wayfinding Point on U.S. Highway 101 three miles south of Reedsport, Ore.
