Alcohol Fuels Holiday Fight Between Brothers

Twin Cities Police Log Dec. 28-Jan. 3: Juveniles found with alcohol and marijuana; brass caps taken from fire hydrants; meters stolen from MMWD.

• A resident in the 40 block of Mariner Green Circle reported he had been involved in a physical altercation with his brother, who is very intoxicated. He advised his brother had punched him in the face knocking out his front tooth. Officers contacted several subjects at the residence. A Tiburon man was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, Obstructing a Police Officer, for Being Under the Influence of Narcotics and Possession of Prescription Medication without a Prescription. He was booked into the Marin County Jail after being medically cleared at the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room.

• A TCPD Officer located a group of subjects on foot in the area of Chickasaw Court. Contact was made with the four juvenile males, three juvenile females and two adult males. Several of the juveniles were under the influence of alcohol. Officers made contact with parents of the juveniles who responded to pick up their children. A small amount of marijuana and alcohol was confiscated and destroyed.

• The maintenance manager for a building in the 30 block of San Clemente Drive reported four brass caps were taken off the hydrants. Further investigation revealed eight caps had been taken. The theft was documented.

• A manager for the Marin Municipal Water District reported the theft of hybrid meters from their corporation yard, located in the 200 block of Tamal Vista Boulevard. A report was taken to document the theft; the amount of the loss is still being determined.

• Pursuant to a non-injury collision in the area of Fifer Avenue and Tamal Vista Boulevard, a Larkspur man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and Possession of Narcotics. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Nordstrom, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported they have a subject in custody for the theft of a handbag, a clip, and earrings, for a loss of $544. A Kentfield woman was arrested for Shoplifting and was released at the scene on a citation.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Tamalpais Drive and U.S. Highway 101, two San Rafael men were contacted and found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The marijuana was confiscated and destroyed at the scene.

• An employee of the Sunglass Hut, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported she witnessed four women come into the store and take two pairs of Gucci sunglasses valued at approximately $630. The subjects were last seen leaving Abercrombie and Fitch, also in the Village Shopping Center, and getting into a silver Ford sedan. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and pursuant to a traffic stop contacted four San Francisco females. The witness was able to identify two of the women who were involved in the thefts. The other two were released. Both women were arrested for Commercial Burglary. One of the women was also arrested for a misdemeanor warrant held by the Daly City Police Department, a misdemeanor warrant held by the San Francisco Police Department, and a felony warrant also held by S.F.P.D. They were both booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A Corte Madera resident reported that while his vehicle was parked in the area of Safeway in the Corte Madera Town Center, it was entered via the driver side window being pried. Taken was black bag containing office paperwork, a camera, an iPod Touch, keys, and an uncashed paycheck. The total loss is approximately $700. An Auto Burglary report was taken to document the theft.

• A resident of the 140 block of King Street reported her vehicle was stolen. She advised she had parked her locked vehicle in front of the residence and now it is gone. An Auto Theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Redwood Highway, an Oakland man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Second Street and Union Street, San Rafael, a San Rafael man was arrested for Possession of Marijuana in a Vehicle and released on a citation. It was later discovered the marijuana was more than an ounce. A complaint will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office for further charges.

• A resident of the 800 block of Via Casitas reported the theft of a bicycle from the mail room at Spyglass apartments sometime over the past two days. The bicycle had been locked and the tire that was locked was left behind. The bicycle is a royal blue men's Schwinn Fastback, 21 speeds, with a value of $500. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• The Pinole Police Department reported the recovery of a vehicle reported stolen to TCPD on Nov. 30, 2011, from the 900 block of Via Casitas. There is no one in custody. A message was left for the owner and the vehicle was cleared from the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A resident of the 10 block of Mohawk Avenue reported he has been a victim of identity theft. The approximate loss is $2,000. He reported someone
used his name and Social Security Number to obtain funds in Chicago, IL. An Identity Theft report was taken and will be forwarded to the Chicago Police Department.

• A resident in the 150 block of Pixley Avenue reported his locked storage closet was entered and one bike and two scooters were taken. He advised he accidentally left the keys in his storage door, and a blue GTB, Peace 9, MLT 08, 24-speed boy’s hybrid mountain bike and two Razor scooters were stolen for an approximate loss of $900. A Residential Burglary Report was taken.

• A Loss Prevention Agent for Macy’s, located in the Village Shopping Center, reported he has a female subject in custody for taking sunglasses and a shirt valued at $250. A Santa Rosa woman was arrested for shoplifting and released on a citation.

• A Corte Madera resident reported she parked her unlocked vehicle in the parking lot at a business in the 800 block of Tamalpais Drive and items, including several library books were stolen from the vehicle. On the following day she was notified some of the items were recovered but some of the library books are still outstanding. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A San Rafael resident reported a large bag of towels, a pair of boots and other miscellaneous items was taken from her locked vehicle while parked at the Village in the area of Macy’s. The exact amount of the loss was not determined at the time of her report. Documentation was provided for the theft.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 243 calls for service. This included two calls related to accidents with minor injuries, two hit and run accidents and three property damage only accidents. There was one auto burglary, one commercial burglary and one residential burglary. There were four call related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in two arrests.
