Girl Fights Off Attackers, Escapes

Cop Log Nov. 16-22: Police searching for two suspects in a reported assault along a Twin Cities bike path.

• The Twin Cities Police Department School Resource Officer was contacted regarding an assault which occurred on Thursday, Nov. 16, around 5 p.m., on the bike path in the area of Holcomb and William avenues. The juvenile victim was punched in the face, however knowing martial arts, was able to kick the suspect in the groin area and get away. The victim reported there was a second subject in the bushes at the time of the assault.

The first suspect is described as a white male, age 16-20, with very dark hair, wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as a white male, 16-20, with mousy brown hair, wearing a dark t-shirt and blue jeans.

• A resident of the 10 block of Chanticleer reported that his blue men's 18 speed Navara Bonanza bicycle, valued at $600, was taken from his driveway sometime in the last few days. A Theft report was taken.

• A resident in the 700 block of Meadowsweet Drive reported someone slashed her father's vehicle tires. There is no suspect information and the vandalism was not witnessed. Documentation was provided.

• An Aspen, Colo., resident reported his blue Santa Cruz mountain bike, valued at approximately $2,000, was taken from the bike rack on his vehicle while it was parked in the lot near the Bay Club Marin in the Corte Madera Town Center. Documentation of the theft was provided.

• The il Fornaio Restaurant, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported a male subject is sitting at the bar, yelling at the staff, and taking photos. They thought the subject may be intoxicated and asked him to move outside to the front of the business. Officers contacted a Sausalito man who had not been drinking and advised he is upset over poor service and will be contacting management. He was sent on his way.

• A resident in the 10 block of Rice Lane reported theft of bicycle from the deck. The bicycle is a men's black with gold rock shocks in front, Cannondale MT1000, 28 speeds, valued at $1,000. The theft was documented.

• A resident of the 40 block of Meadowridge Drive reported there are license plates on her vehicle which do not belong to it. The vehicle is parked in her garage. The license plates on the vehicle were reported as stolen on Nov. 17 at University of California, San Francisco. The plates stolen from the victim’s vehicle were entered into the Stolen Vehicle System and the recovered license plates were removed from the system. The UCSF Police Department was notified.

• TCPD officers responded to a report via 9-1-1 of a possible drunk driver leaving the Golden Gate Transit Ferry Terminal. The caller stated the subject had already hit a fence while trying to leave the lot. Officers located the vehicle stopped near the bike path. A Larkspur man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence and booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 300 block of Via Casitas reported via 9-1-1 that a vehicle in the parking lot was just broken into by smashing the rear window and a small, silver, beat-up looking vehicle left the area. Contact made with the owner of the vehicle. Documentation of the theft was provided. There is follow-up pending for an inventory list of the stolen items.

• A San Francisco resident, who is staying at the Marin Suites reported entry was made to her room while she was sleeping and her computer is missing. Taken was a black 17" Sony Vaio laptop, value $600. A Burglary report was taken to document the theft.

• A resident in the 900 block of Via Casitas reported via 9-1-1 that her vehicle was stolen during the night. The vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System. The vehicle was later located in the City of Richmond.

• While checking the area of the 900 block of Via Casitas on a stolen vehicle report, a TCPD Officer located another stolen vehicle which had been reported to the Contra Costa CHP. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and responded from San Pablo to pick up his vehicle. Vehicle had damage to the ignition and the stereo was missing. The vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A resident of the 200 block of Via Casitas reported her husband's vehicle had been keyed sometime during the night. No suspects were seen. Documentation for the vandalism was provided.

• A San Rafael resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in a lot at the Village Shopping Center, someone slashed the two right side tires. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

• Residents of the 50 block of Lower Via Casitas reported they arranged to rent a vacation rental in Santa Cruz. They deposited a check for the amount of $1,160 into an account at Citi Bank with a name they were provided and later determined that the check had cleared. They have since determined that the transaction was a scam. A Fraud report was taken and there is follow-up investigation pending.

• A Greenbrae resident reported that while her vehicle was parked in a lot at the Village Shopping Center, it was entered via unknown means. Taken were a Nikon camera in a gray case and two shopping bags from Ross containing clothing. Total loss approximately $500. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident of Medford, Ore., reported that while her vehicle was parked in the lot at the Golden Gate Transit Ferry Terminal, it was entered via the passenger front door. Taken were a car video system, iPod touch, iPod, school bag and four bottles of alcohol. Approximate total loss is $500. An Auto Burglary report was taken to document the theft.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 303 calls for service. This included two calls related to accidents with minor injuries, five hit and run accidents and 11 property damage only accidents. There were three auto burglaries and one residential burglary. There was one call related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in one arrest.
