Police Arrest Mill Valley Driver After Sideshow

Twin Cities Police Report Nov. 30-Dec. 6: Auto burglaries and telephone scams dot the cop logs.

• A citizen reported a vehicle "spinning doughnuts" and driving recklessly behind the Bon Air Shopping Center. Several other callers reported via 9-1-1 that the vehicle had hit the wall in the back the shopping center and the four occupants were outside the vehicle. Officers contacted a Mill Valley male who was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked at the Marin County Jail after he was medically cleared at the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room. A juvenile Greenbrae female, a juvenile Tiburon male and another juvenile female were released to their parents.

• A Twin Cities Police Officer located graffiti in the men's restroom at Corte Madera Chevron, located in the Corte Madera Town Center. Employees advised they had located graffiti the previous week and cleaned it up. The graffiti located by the officer was new. Pictures were taken to document the graffiti vandalism.

• A resident of the 900 block of Via Casitas reported their vehicle was taken from the guest parking area in the 800 block of Via Casitas. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle. An auto theft report was taken and the vehicle was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System. The vehicle was located later that day in the city of San Pablo.

• Residents in the 100 block of Corte Oriental reported that there was a vehicle parked blocking their driveway with the motor running. Officers located the vehicle with the engine running and no one inside. A check of the vehicle’s license number revealed it had been reported as stolen to the Vallejo Police Department. VPD was notified and the vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.

• A Security Officer for the Bon Air Shopping Center reported that a theft had occurred in a business in the shopping center. The responsible party, a male subject walking with a cane, stole a sweatshirt and fled the area toward Sir Francis Drake. Officers located the subject in the 100 block of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A San Rafael man was arrested for shoplifting and released on a citation at the scene.

• A Greenbrae resident reported that while their vehicle was parked in the Bon Air Shopping Center, a jacket was stolen from the unlocked vehicle.

• A resident of the 100 block of Harvard Drive reported a $1,200 bicycle was stolen from a closed garage at the residence. There are no signs of forced entry. A Residential Burglary report was taken.

• A resident of the 900 block of South Eliseo Drive reported she received a call from a male subject stating he was an attorney with an insurance company and that her daughter had been in an accident while drunk driving. The subject requested she provide $3,900 to him for damages, and get her daughter out of jail. She did not pay the money and there was no loss. Documentation was provided for the attempted scam.

• An anonymous citizen reported a male subject passed out in the driver's seat of the vehicle parked in the Lucky Center on Magnolia Avenue. He said he had watched the subject inject something into his arm prior to passing out. Officers contacted a San Francisco female, who was released at the scene, and a Kentfield man, who was arrested for Possession of Narcotics and for being Under the Influence of Narcotics. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 1900 building of Lincoln Village Circle reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took a book bag with K-8 graders school homework papers, personal mail, and a floppy disk. Documentation of the theft was provided.

• A resident in the 900 building of Lincoln Village Circle reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took a GPS navigator, Prada sunglasses, a checkbook, and a diaper bag for a loss of approximately $550. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident of the 400 block of Murray Avenue reported via 9-1-1 someone kicked open the kitchen door. It was unknown if anything was taken. Officers contacted the owner and determined the house is vacant and it appears nothing was taken. The door was pried open, and is now broken. Documentation was provided for the incident.

• A resident of the 20 block of La Rosa Way reported “Officer Johnson” from the “Federal Trade Center” called and said she won $350,000, and for insurance purposes they needed her to wire them $3,500 which she did yesterday. Today she was called again and told the actual prize is $3,500,000 and they will need an additional $19,000 for insurance. She believes it is a scam and she not sent the additional money. A report was taken to document the fraud and there is possible follow-up investigation pending.

• A business in the 10 block of Koch Road reported a truck was broken into. A padlock was cut on the truck to gain entry. Taken was miscellaneous merchandise valued at approximately $2,000. An auto burglary report was taken. The same business also reported a storage pod may have been broken into. It was determined the pod's lock was tampered with and there were loose bolts, but nothing was taken. Documentation was provided for the attempted theft.

• An employee of a business in the 50 block of San Clemente Boulevard reported a man stating he was from the “US Grant Department” called him and said he had won $7,000. He was told only to supply his bank account number and Social Security number for deposit which he did not do. Several hours later, the
same subject called again, but he did not pick up the phone and no message was left. Documentation was provided for the attempted fraud.

• A Corte Madera resident reported that while she was driving near her residence in the 40 block of Creekside Court, she received a call on her cellular phone from a subject stating she was behind on her loan and she was going to be arrested. The subject on the phone had a heavy Asian-Indian accent. She did not give the subject any information and has blocked the number on her cell phone. Documentation was provided for the attempted fraud.

• Pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Redwood Avenue and Willow Avenue, a Corte Madera man was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

• A resident in the 100 block of Via Casitas reported a male subject was siphoning gas from vehicles. After a short foot pursuit, Officers arrested a Sebastopol man for Resisting Arrest, Prowling on Private Property, and Parole Violation. He was booked into the Marin County Jail. A Petaluma female who was also contacted at the scene was identified and released.

• A San Rafael resident reported that while it was parked in the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue, her vehicle was keyed. There is a scratch on the right rear passenger door the length of the door. There is no suspect information or witnesses. Documentation was provided for the vandalism.

• Pursuant to following a vehicle on US 101, a TCPD Officer made a traffic stop in the area of Blithedale and Tower, Mill Valley, and a Corte Madera man was arrested for Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A Ross resident reported that fraudulent charges had been made on her account at the Apple Store, located in the Village Shopping Center. She advised $2,233.00 worth of merchandise was purchased. An Identity Theft report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

• Pursuant to being contacted on foot in the 2000 block of Redwood Highway, a Greenbrae man was arrested for being Intoxicated in a Public Place and a Probation Violation. He was booked at the Marin County Jail.

• A resident of the 300 block of Eliseo Drive reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle through an open tailgate and took dental oroscopic loop glasses, an owner's manual, vehicle registration and insurance information and miscellaneous coins. The approximate loss is $2,000. A Grand Theft report was taken to document the incident.

• A student at Redwood High School reported her black Apple iPhone was taken from the girl’s locker room. The phone was left on top of the locker. There is no suspect information or witnesses. Documentation was provided for the theft.

• A resident in the 900 block of Paseo Way reported via 9-1-1 a male passenger in a vehicle grabbed the mail out of the mailbox and drove off. He advised the suspect vehicle is a gold van last seen going up Paseo Way toward the Bret Harte Road area in San Rafael. Taken was a check made out to PG&E for $260 and another check made out to NY Life Insurance for $923. A check of the area for the subjects and vehicle met with negative results. A report was taken and the checks were entered into the Automated Property System.

• The Campus Supervisor for San Andreas High School reported he is in the main office with a juvenile male Marin City resident, who is a student at the school, and he may have drugs in his possession. The student is on Juvenile Probation with Search and Seizure and is refusing to allow a search. The student was reprimanded regarding his probation and released to the school after a search was conducted with negative results. Officers also contacted an 18 year old Marin City man who was cited and released for Possession of Marijuana on School grounds.

• The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office reported that they had located a vehicle reported as stolen from Blue Rock Court on November 23, 2011, in the city of Windsor. The owner was notified and the vehicle was removed from the Stolen Vehicle System.

• An employee of Redwood High School reported that a juvenile female Corte Madera resident was discovered with a considerable amount of marijuana in her backpack. She was arrested and released on a
citation to her parents for Possession of Marijuana on School Grounds. A second student, a juvenile male Marin City resident, was also arrested and released on a citation for having Marijuana in his Possession on School Grounds.

• A resident of the 20 block of Windward Drive reported her bank advised there were fraudulent charges for approximately $2,000 made on a credit card that she still has in her possession. The charges were made in Vacaville. An Identity Theft report was taken and there is possible follow-up pending.

• A business in the Corte Madera Town Center reported a fraudulent $100 traveler's check had been passed at their store. The suspect is a female, approximately five foot ten inches tall, in her early forties, with long hair in ponytail. She was wearing a leather jacket, black jeans, and had two gold front teeth. A second person with the suspect is a female, approximately five foot one inches tall, wearing dark clothing. A check of the area for the subjects met with negative results. Documentation of the theft was provided.

• The Chase Bank, located in the Corte Madera Town Center, reported there is a female subject who is trying to cash a fraudulent check for $1,761.31. An Oakland female was arrested for Commercial Burglary and Attempting to Pass a Fraudulent Check. She was medically cleared at the Marin General Hospital Emergency Room and booked into the Marin County Jail.

During this one week time period, Twin Cities Police had 316 calls for service. This included one call related to accidents with minor injuries, three hit and run accidents and seven property damage only accidents. There was one auto burglary, two commercial burglaries and two residential burglaries. There were two calls related to Driving while Intoxicated, resulting in two arrests.
