Cock Resigns From Corte Madera Council

Alexandra Cock put the Town of Corte Madera on notice Tuesday night: She's leaving the Town Council.

"It has been a great honor and privilege to serve on the Council over the last 5 ½ years," Cock wrote in an e-mail after Tuesday's regular Town Council meeting. "I am deeply grateful for all of your support and encouragement over the years. I am very proud of Corte Madera and what I have contributed during my term of office."

Cock was most recently re-elected to the Town Council in 2011 and subsequently served a term as mayor. The Town Council could vote to hold a special election in November to find a replacement to fill Cock's seat.

"Over most of my adult life, I have served in numerous leadership positions. My focus beginning this year is to have more enjoyment and fun in my life. I realized that I need time and freedom to create those experiences. The ongoing commitment of meetings, reading, communication and continuous thought about Town issues is very time consuming," Cock wrote. "I look forward to spending more relaxed time with Richard and our two beautiful Sammies. I’m going to spend some time doing art in addition to getting caught up with friends, old and new. I’m going to catch up on work and office projects. I’m excited about my next life chapter."

Cock, who has nearly 20 years of experience as a financial consultant, is currently president of Wealth Plus, Inc., an organization that offers business planning, financial strategies and other services to Marin residents. Business seems to be picking up, according to Cock, and her job with Wealth Plus will require more of her attention.

"I resigned at this time because elections are coming up on November. There are 2 ½ years left in my term. I truly hope that the Council will hold a Special Election in November to fill the remainder of my term. There are many informed, conscientious Town members who would be great Council members. I look forward to seeing who steps up to fulfill this important responsibility. I will continue to support the Town in whatever ways I can."
