A band of senior citizen cheerleaders, an army of tanks and jeeps, and lots of fanfare thrilled the residents who lined Magnolia Avenue for the 4th of July Parade Wednesday morning.

Along with Cheer San Francisco and Redwood High School's cheerleaders, a group of senior residents from Tamalpais showed off their best moves. Cancer survivors were celebrating another year of birthdays with the American Cancer Society, "The official sponsor of birthdays."

Marin Highlanders Rugby, Marin Rowing and Redwood football all showed their muscles. The Highlanders are coming off an undefeated season. Marin Rowing's float carried a raft of trophies.

The parade was also a chance for politicians to see — and be seen by — residents. Retiring U.S. Representative Lynn Woolsey was near the head of the parade. Jared Huffman, who is vying to take over her seat in November, was also supported by a group of marchers in the parade.

Fun seekers got the celebration started with breakfast and gin fizzes at the American Legion Pancake Breakfast. Folks lined the parade route from Doherty Drive, to Magnolia, to Tamalpais Drive to join in the party.
